How does CLO'ey work?

CLO'ey uses an organic starter material to safely and hygienically decompose your food waste within 24 hours.

Heat, agitation and airflow are applied to the unit's contents to assist the naturally occurring microbes in the starter material compost your food waste. The unit can process up to 4kg of food waste per day, without using any chemicals or other harmful products.

Where can CLO'ey sit?

CLO’ey has a stylish, contemporary design that makes it perfect in your kitchen, laundry, garage, shed or anywhere that has power and is weather-proof. A pipe is supplied to vent moist air from the machine to atmosphere. 

What can go into CLO'ey?

Unlike most composters, CLO’ey can process most food waste**, including cooked and raw meat.

Set up CLO’ey and start adding food waste. CLO’ey can process up to 4kg of food waste every 24 hours.
Once compost has built up, use the scoop provided to remove. You can continue to add food waste immediately.
Distribute compost on your garden for plants and vegetables. Take care to follow the instructions for safe and effective use.

*The use of the term ‘compost’ to describe the process and output of Closed Loop organic units is used in accordance with the Oxford Dictionary definition of compost as "decayed organic material used as a fertiliser for growing plants". The NSW EPA applies a more specific definition of compost - "a process of managed biological transformation: (a) to achieve pasteurisation; and (b) for a period of not less than a total of 6 weeks of composting and curing at an adequate moisture level (>40% by weight), and/or until an equivalent level of biological stability can be demonstrated." The Closed Loop organics units process food waste in 24 hours so do not meet the definition of compost in NSW.
