SPRING CELEBRATES SUSTAINABLE EVENT WASTE MANAGEMENT

Closed Loop Site Services managed the event waste at Floriade 2019, Australia’s biggest celebration of Spring, held in Canberra, from 12th September until 11th October. Floriade is a diverse, ever expanding program of music, cultural celebrations, food and wine, horticultural workshops, market traders, artistic displays, entertainment and recreational activities. With half a million visitors and over one million blooms on display, Floriade is the perfect place to experience the beauty of spring.

Watch how Closed Loop Site Services manages event waste into different waste streams to maximise landfill diversion rates.

“It’s important to us that the way we operate is also working in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Floraide attracts about half a million people to the event each year, half of those come from interstate or overseas so it is a really big drawcard for the ACT. We were looking for a company that could work with us on improving the ways that we manage waste onsite, and could work with us on reducing the waste that we were actually generating.”

Sarah Boyd, ACT Government Events Manager
