MUFFIN BREAK WINS BEST
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE AWARD
CONGRATULATIONS MUFFIN BREAK !
Muffin Break winner of Best Sustainability Initiative Award at the QSR Media Sandhurst Fine Foods Conference & Awards 2019.
Congratulations to Muffin Break for being recognised for their commitment to implement best-practice sustainability practices, and reduce the impact of coffee cups going to landfill in partnership. Muffin Break are one of two Simply Cups Australia program partners, and for every takeaway coffee or hot drink sold at Muffin Break, they contribute towards developing Australia’s leading coffee cup recycling program which has already diverted over 5 million cups from landfill.

INFLUENCING CHANGE AT SHOPPING CENTRES
Muffin Break have been actively campaigning for Shopping Centres to embrace coffee cup recycling. The majority of Muffin Break’s 200+ stores are located in shopping centres, and as tenants Muffin Break are leading the push for their shopping centre partners to discuss the upgrade of their current waste systems, with the solutions offered by Simply Cups.
This has lead to demand to implement Simply Cups in shopping centres through-out Australia, with the potential to divert ten’s of million of cups from landfill.
Shopping Centres are also starting to embrace upcycled products, with Vicinity Shopping Centre in Broadmeadows deciding to install car park wheel stops using recycled plastic and recycled paper cups. Now that is the circular economy in action!
PROMOTING REUSABLE COFFEE CUPS
Recycling is good, and reusing is better. Muffin Break were an early adopter for encouraging customers to choose reusable cups, offering a 30 cent discount if you bring your own cups.
CUP RECYCLING AT BUSINESS CHICKS
Muffin Break support Business Chicks, and the event in June 2019 (keynote Julia Bishop), was the first where Muffin Break served coffee and collected used coffee cups at the event.
